Is cuteness a word? Thinking not, but if it was, these are what you’d see under the definition. I spotted these over at poppytalk this morning. There is a link to Pillpat’s flickr stream where you can print them out your self! I know my daughter (and I) would have so much fun making these.
fresh from the garden
…just not my garden
a benefit of having lovely neighbors with overflowing gardens!
cute little houses all in a row
I saw these over at modeco kids yesterday, and I have to say, they are the cutest little houses around. I have been having quite an attraction to little houses of late and doing a lot of playing around with some ideas of my own.

New in the shop!
I have many more in this series that I will be adding today and throughout the week. Also, right now it is offered mounted to a Birchwood panel, but I will be offering them as prints as well.
sweet cookie
Have you seen this spread in the new Cookie? Her dress, her hair! Love it.
taking a peek around
the house today at a few things…
finally framed and hung the underwater pic from our vacation
my new favorite light in the house (and winner of the most improved bare light bulb ever!)
and a peek at a new piece, just one in a series that will be available beginning Monday in my shop!
oh, and happy weekend!

this keep out sign for a little one’s room
I know a couple small residents of our home who would be all over this one.

happy weekend!
Lots of here and there this weekend, including my very, very favorite Portland activity. I’ll try and get some good pics. In the meantime here is a bright and happy picture of a small but growing pez collection in Ian’s room.
its gone to the birds
swifts to be exact. I have been playing around a little bit with cutting paper and texture and here is the result…
My extra hours while the kids are at school have afforded me the opportunity to play and it’s so much fun. You can see more of this piece here.

new work (more to come) and painting the walls
children’s rooms
are always a source of inspiration for me. Pictures of a wonderful kid space can often be a starting point for me in terms of color and character.
Some of the most beautiful books of kid spaces are available over at the Yvestown blog. There are several books in this Japanese series of European kids rooms. What strikes me is the simplicity that runs through them. There are no ‘theme rooms’ which seem to often plague US kids rooms, instead it’s beautiful toys and treasures that create unique and personal spaces.
portrait of a boy
going to kindergarten.
We sent our youngest off to kindergarten today! He is so ready, so excited, so I am not sad, but happy for him and for me and all the time I will have to create.
addition and subtraction
I am toying with the idea of offering my wallpaper panel art as cutouts as well (ie subtracting the image instead of adding it through paint).
The wood panel is just too pretty to hide, I think.
(note that this is not a finished piece, don’t want you to think I’m a slacker in the craft department)
catch up
I finally updated my press page. Thank you to everyone who has written about my work!
summers end
Last week we had a wonderful picnic up at the rose garden.
But now it’s back to school (for one of the kiddos anyway). Ian starts the big K on Friday.
what d’you think?
New wallpaper options and designs to come! Here’s a quick sneak peek!
Olio United
This weekend the gorgeous store Olio United is having a one year birthday party. I have some paintings hanging and am also selling prints. Stop by and see all their amazing stuff. This paper airplane mobile used to hang in their window, how fun would that be in a boys room?
Also, tonight they are having a silent auction of TOMS shoes to benefit Transitions Cambodia.
nie day
As I am sure you have heard, today is nie day in the blog world. As a regular reader of nie nie’s blog I, like everyone, was stunned a few weeks ago to read of the tragic crash they were in. I intend to go and cruise all the amazing auctions happening here and hopefully pick something up for the cause. Go check it out!
five years ago
this month our little guy underwent a pretty major surgery. While he has no memory of it, we will never forget it and the wonderful doctors and nurses that took such great care of him. The reason I mention it is that I was recently contacted to donate a painting to an auction that benefits the children’s hospital he was treated at. Obviously I was more than happy to help out, in fact, I was thrilled to. To learn more about Doernbecher and the auction you can go here.
A nurse took this polaroid of our guy to show our daughter before she came in to prepare her for how he looked. It was really touching that they took the time to include and show such care towards her, as well. They really are great people up there.
