happy friday!

There are just too many things to love about this image, I wish I had the original source (anyone know?).  While streaking into the forest is not on my list of plans this weekend, I’m sure we’ll come up with something.  Have a great weekend!  I am planning on adding several new originals to my shop next week, so stay tuned!

I am thrilled to let you know I have some of my work available over at One King’s Lane right now!  The are large scale canvas prints of some of my most popular work.  You can see everything available here.

milestone day

This week my girl becomes a teenager!  I survived a weekend of being sick while she celebrated with her friends with a night at a hotel (but only barely;).   Here are some things I’m loving this Monday morning:

the new issue of Kinfolk,  an old pic of my teenager that I slipped in, a David head that I just purchased and am in love with and a polaroid of the sunset the other night.

Obsessed With

Searching For Sugarman.  We watched it this past weekend and I can’t get it out of my mind.  The story of this man is beyond unbelievable (you couldn’t write this) and inspirational.  That a man could have such a huge impact on the world and never be aware of it really struck me.  See it, now!

meet my friend…

Or in this case, a canvas my dad no longer wanted that still has the beginnings of one of his paintings.  I almost want to just hang it up as is.  It is a huge (this is just a corner of it) canvas, 48″x78″ and I am so scared to start and at the same time can’t wait.  I’m hoping to leave some of the markings my dad made peaking through in spots, I’ll let you know….

a couple of new paintings…

I finally got these two pieces scanned to show you.  They are on the small side, each measuring 8″x8″ will be available tomorrow in my etsy shop (both originals and prints).

wise words

chuckclose.jpg

“The advice I like to give young artists, or really anybody who’ll listen to me, is not to wait around for inspiration. Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up & get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part & a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself. Things occur to you.”

I came across this Chuck Close quote on pinterest and thought it was a great inspiration for the new year.  I can get distracted with so many ideas of what I want to make, that I don’t stop and actually ‘make.’  This is good kick in the pants reminder to just stop and do.  Sounds simple, but one of my new year’s resolutions is to hold myself to painting every single day.

P.S. a veritable treasure of inspiration at Wisdom
