I have been wanting to offer these for quite some time now and just finally got around to it!  I am now doing little framed portraits, in the same vein as my ‘little paintings.’  The paintings themselves measure 4″x4″ or 3.5″x5″ and come framed in a frame hand painted to complement the piece.  Go here to order!

West Elm Event

I am thrilled to share that I will be participating in the We heart handmade event this Saturday at West Elm in NW Portland from 1to 6pm (west elm, 1201 NW Couch Street, corner of Couch and 12th Ave).   A pop up event with etsy, there will be food, drinks, music, a photo booth and, of course some amazing vendors.   I hope you can stop by!

I just wanted to share this beautiful shop I just discovered, Elk.  Not only are their things beautiful, but the packaging is lovely.  That always earns huge bonus points, and even though they are in Australia, their shipping is super fast!

Here are some of my favorite gifts for kids this year.

This year my daughter is squarely in the ‘pre-teen’ category, which at first left me stumped, but since she was never a ‘toy’ kid, I think it has actually gotten easier for me to come up with ideas.  My son is all about making things, especially mechanical things so I am loving automatons.  In fact, I wouldn’t mind the little boat one below!  Enjoy!

I am busy working away getting orders out for Christmas.  If you have already ordered, I will be finishing up and getting your portrait off to you soon!  If you are interested in a portrait, I am no longer taking orders for Christmas, BUT I have gift certificates available!  With each gift certificate I include several postcards with images of my work as well as a bonus ‘little print.’  Please contact me with any questions!  Here are a couple new ‘little prints’ in my etsy shop and an example of what comes with each gift certificate.

I will still be accepting orders for sketch portraits until Dec 10th, but because of the time that goes into paintings I can no longer guarantee new orders will be completed by the holidays.  BUT! That doesn’t mean you can’t still give a portrait painting as a gift.  I have lovely little gift certificates now available.  Due to the custom nature of each piece, please email me so that I can fill it in with your specifications.

gifts for the grandparentage

So if you are a grandparent to our kids-STOP READING NOW!

I am quite proud of myself for actually getting this gift done.  This is the time when I am busy getting portraits completed and off in time for others to give for the holidays, so unless I plan ahead, my own gifts can fall into the ‘thought that counts’ category.   But I did it! I created a blurb book for our parents with pics of the kids from this past year.  When the kids were little, I was pretty good about getting photos to everyone,  sending them off on a pretty regular basis.  I haven’t done that in years (and believe me, I have the guilt to prove it).   Here are a few of my favorite pages

The Working Proof

I’m really excited to share that I have a print available exclusively over at The Working Proof.  You may remember ‘King of the Mountain’ from earlier posts.  It is now available as a limited edition of 50 prints, 8 1/2″x11″ for $35 here.  Working Proof Gallery, started by the awesome Anna and Sean of Sub Studios, seeks to promote art and social responsibility. Each print is paired with a charity of the artist’s choice, to which they donate 15% of the sale of each print.   I chose to pair with Victory Junction which provides ‘life-changing camping experiences that are exciting, fun, and empowering, in a safe and medically-sound environment’ for kids with chronic medical conditions or serious illness.  Please go take a peek at the amazing art being sold and know a portion of each is going to support a charity!

Just a quick note to let you know there is still time to place a portrait order for holiday gift giving! I have been receiving questions about this and as I realize most of us are just now starting to think about gifts, I allow for a shorter turn a round (ie less sleep:) this time of year.
