We had beautiful fallish weather here this weekend, perfect for the outdoor concert we went to on Saturday. Ray kills me every time.

color inspiration
I bought these birthday candles this summer at a little shop on Orcas Island for their unusual muted colors. They are so pretty I’ll probably end up hoarding them and never use them.
Have a lovely, lovely weekend!
a swim in the lake
We’re back! We are dirty, tired, and oh how I do love a hot shower after camping.
studio envy (again)
I love the studio space of artist Mettte Helena Rasmussen. Sometimes I day dream of moving my studio up to our attic, which is huge and has gorgeous untouched wood floors. I would paint everything in site white and add skylights. There’s just the little problem of access (no stairs). Ah well…
breathtaking
Aren’t these paper sculptures by Anna Wili just, wow!

We had a lovely little vacation. Lots of shell collecting, general exploring and whale spotting. It’s a pretty magical place and I highly recommend a visit if you ever get a chance.
Oh and I couldn’t resist adding one more. The deer are very sweet and begged for treats where we stayed, the kids were thrilled.
wish you were here
And by here, I mean paradise. We have been vacationing here the last few days and don’t want to ever go home. Tomorrow we are off to look for whales! I’ll do a full post Monday on our adventures, for now have a wonderful weekend!
pingg
Have you heard of pingg? It’s a free invitation site that lets design conscious hosts seamlessly create, send and manage stylish invitations and event communications for personal and professional events via online and print. A few of my paintings are now part of their ‘designer’ series. If you have a get together coming up, it’s an awesome way to go. It’s my new go to, for our kids b-days.
new work and a request
Here’s another new painting in my ‘bathers’ series. It seems particularly appropriate, as it is ridiculously hot here.
And I have a request, pretty, pretty please vote for my friend Karen to win a week at a surf camp. To say she is an inspiration does not do her justice.
loving
the colors in this rock slice (one of the many treasures the kids got over the weekend)
the sketchbook project
I came accross the sketchbook project and thought I’d share. Their tag line is that its like a concert tour but with sketchbooks. Anyone can participate (for $25). You pick a theme and are sent a sketch book to fill! The completed books will then tour the country next year and eventually will enter into the permanent collection of The Brooklyn Art Library, where they will be barcoded and available for the public to view. Fun concept, no?

new old toy
So I was doing my usual blog reading this morning when I saw this post on Victorias blog about through the view finder photography. After clicking through to the view finder tutorial link, I looked over at my shelf and realized, hey I have an old kodak duaflex, previously used only as decoration. I made a very rough light blocker and tried a few. I am so excited with the results I think I will make a light blocker contraption that takes me more than five seconds to put together. No doubt I will be doing more of these soon.
My Monday View
The beautiful lace like structure of this dried up leaf is so beautiful. I’m loving the intricacy and the shadow it casts.
weekend view
We had a beautiful weekend and I got to lay in a big green field after all.
Happy Weekend!
We are having beautiful blue sky days here and I’m dreaming of having a picnic in a big green field. Maybe for mother’s day? Which brings me to: happy mother’s day to everyone out there with little ones (and big ones)!
I leave you with a gorgeous e-magazine put together by Jeannette of Fryd and Design. I’m a big fan of her blog so I was so excited to see she included on of my prints in her new publication. Thanks Jennette! Go take a look, it’s like taking two shots of happy.
Monday View (wishful thinking)
I have a busy week finishing getting everything ready for Crafty Wonderland this weekend, but I wanted to share this color cake from House of Origin (via Bloesem). My son has a bday coming up, hmmm wondering if I can do something similar…
inspired by
these amazing self portraits by a local elementary. The starbucks down the street rotates artwork by an elementary school in the neighborhood and right now they’re showing these brilliant portraits. I had to buy the poster (only $10!) Love it. (if you are in Portland it is the starbucks at Fremont and NE15th ave. )
line by line
Some work I have been drawn to lately. Loving subtle colors and horizontal lines.

studio envy
Oh to have a space like this to paint. These are photos of Claire Basler’s studio from the March issue of Elle decoration UK.
