I’ve really been enjoying letting myself play in the morning before getting down to it. Here are a couple examples.
Have a wonderful weekend, I think our skies will be looking suspiciously similar to the above paintings (which I secretly love)!

(and how did it get to be September?) I think I’m a bit in denial, even though I am looking forward to cooler days. I plan to spend the long weekend doing something fun as a family and in my cave painting. How about you?
I am currently having a small love affair with blue. An inky dark blue, love. Here’s another painting I recently completed!
A new painting!
A new painting.
Hi all! Finally an update (though not tooo many changes) on a the large painting that I’ve been working on.
A little bit of progress on this piece is happening . I try to do a little here and there between filling print orders and portrait orders. BUT, it’s also a good way to stay fresh, when I burn out on one thing I move over to another and it seems to work.
(you can see the previous few stages of this painting here)
I thought I’d share a large painting I am working on as it progress. I am always curious to see other artists’ process so here is a peak at mine. Here are a couple stages in this painting so far. I always take photos as I go along as I find it easier to see what is/isn’t working. I will update with new pics on until it’s done!
a small peek at my workspace…
I’ve had this series running around my head for a year now and have finally started working on it. Here is one of the first in ‘the bathers’ series (just in time for the sun)!
My mantel right now is home to a painting in progress and a flower to try and brighten my day. Just out of view, the sick kid on the couch, sigh. (you should hear the commentary from my kids when I put up an in progress piece to look at, ‘he doesn’t have hands,’ ‘what are they doing?!’ and on and on
So I was doing my usual blog reading this morning when I saw this post on Victorias blog about through the view finder photography. After clicking through to the view finder tutorial link, I looked over at my shelf and realized, hey I have an old kodak duaflex, previously used only as decoration. I made a very rough light blocker and tried a few. I am so excited with the results I think I will make a light blocker contraption that takes me more than five seconds to put together. No doubt I will be doing more of these soon.
Here are some of the prints I will be offering on stretched canvas. I will add these to my etsy shop next week as I’m bringing these ones here this weekend.
I have a busy week finishing getting everything ready for Crafty Wonderland this weekend, but I wanted to share this color cake from House of Origin (via Bloesem). My son has a bday coming up, hmmm wondering if I can do something similar…
Here’s another recently completed painting (really love this one). I’m itching to do one similar to this but on a much larger scale. Tomorrow I will have prints of all the new paintings in my shop!
Here are some more recently completed paintings. I still have 3-4 I need to complete and then plan to add prints of all to the shop by the end of the week. I need to sit down and do all the scanning, sizing, printing involved with that. The originals will be at Crafty Wonderland next week! I am almost ready for that and have a couple fun things to share as it gets closer.
Here are two small peeks at some new paintings. I have a sick boy on the couch, but have managed to work on a few things today. My goal for the week: to finish up several portraits I am working on, as well as these new paintings.
I am doing my first Crafty Wonderland next month (more on that soon!) and wanted something new to offer. So I decided to make canvas wrapped prints of several of my paintings. I think these make a nice alternative to my standard prints. They look so close to the originals it’s pretty amazing and as they need no framing, you can just pop them up on the wall. Oh, and they’re so cute, wee little portraits at 6″x8″ and 6″x6″. I will get better pics soon!
(and I will also be adding some to my etsy in the near future, as well)
