holiday cards, check

My last big thing can now be checked off!  I made these mini calendar cards, now just need to get them sent off.  I’m really happy with how they turned out.

an apple for the teachers

I book marked this a bit ago knowing it would be the perfect teacher gift.  The kids and I made a couple yesterday and it’s a really fun and easy project.  You can find step by step directions at Cheeky Magpie.  We used a little green paper leaf instead of the ribbon.  Of course in the rush this morning to get off I forgot to take pictures.

one step closer

A quick little post today as I am busy, busy, busy getting all my work done.  If you’re waiting on a painting, no fear, I am hoping to get scans out this week of the pieces I am working on.

On a side note, just got these today…

super cute, practical and now I can pretend I am off to go riding when I put them on, ‘sigh’….

Framed Portraits!

I am now offering a framing option for my portraits, and these are gorgeous frames!  I am currently offering them in 8″x10″, 11″x14″ and 16″x20″ sizes.  Also, the below pics show a new portrait.  I used my son as the subject, well he and his ‘lumpy.’  This is his very well loved constant companion.   You can order one with your own child and their best bud here.  And while this paticular painting shows a boy, obviously girls have their best bud, too.  So, it is most definitely available as a portrait for a little girl.  This is probably a good time to say that these portraits make a wonderful holiday gift.  I will be taking orders for Christmas up until early December (but the sooner the better, right?).

2009 calendars here!

I am so flippin excited to share these with you!  They are beautiful and would make such a wonderful gift.  I am offering two options.  The first is 12 individual panels featuring illustrations of YOUR snapshots.  Each picture is hand drawn in ink and then digitally colored, printed  on gorgeous paper and mounted to wood panels.  Here is a little peek of the calendar I made from our family snapshots.

Candid pictures work best, as do images that show the subjects whole body.

more cuteness

Is cuteness a word?  Thinking not, but if it was, these are what you’d see under the definition.  I spotted these over at poppytalk this morning.  There is a link to Pillpat’s flickr stream where you can print them out your self!  I know my daughter (and I) would have so much fun making these.

My extra hours while the kids are at school have afforded me the opportunity to play and it’s so much fun.  You can see more of this piece here.

addition and subtraction

I am toying with the idea of offering my wallpaper panel art as cutouts as well (ie subtracting the image instead of  adding it through paint).

The wood panel is just too pretty to hide, I think.

(note that this is not a finished piece, don’t want you to think I’m a slacker in the craft department)

those boys are fast

Yesterday we did a little welcome picture on our chalkboard in preparation for our kindergarten teacher visit.  Body prints were made and decorated.

today I’m loving…

these adorable little wooden families from fellow etsy seller Goose Grease.  I am seeing a little family project in our near future.  You can also order them customized to match your family (you know how I love portraits!).

building a new world…

The kids built dioramas yesterday.  It was a fun and easy project.  We used a couple of shoe boxes, they drew the background, added some trees from the local craft store and our yard and put in some toys from around the house.

cheap camera, priceless pics

I hadn’t used my holga camera for a few years, four actually.  But I took it with us recently on vacation and am really impressed with the results.  I only wish I had brought more film.  It’s pretty amazing what you can capture with a plastic camera…

little bit of this…

The days are getting away from me around here.  Last week we went blueberry picking

and the kids have been working away on some paper mache

I decided (cause hey it won’t be that hard!, yeah right) to swap rooms with the kids’ play room and move my office/studio in.  I always underestimate the time these things will take, but am really excited because it will be a much better fit for both rooms.  I spied this great faux floor mat over at sfgirlbybay that will be a perfect fit in my studio.  Maybe it will satisfy my obsession with painted white floors!

lots to share!

I have been working on these for a while now, weaving together different aspects of my work into a new line of children’s art.  I really love how they have turned out.  I have painted some charming little silhouettes onto wallpaper and mouted them onto these gorgeous wood panels.  They are available now on my website under wallpaper art, please take a peek!

ah, summer days

This summer we made the choice not to sign the kids up for a bunch of camps, one each was the rule.  Oh, but it was so hard!  We live in such an amazing city full of so many neat camps, there was definitely temptation.  There are acrobat camps, art camps, theater camps, science camps, zoo camp, think of it and they’ve got it.  I can happily report, though, that we made the right decision.  The last few days have been so much fun.  We try to do something fun every morning and lay about in the afternoon.  Today we spent the morning at Jamison square, and oh how I love this city!  The kids played in the fun fountain that cascades and forms a wading pull, drains, and begins again.  We visited a toy store down the street and I got my daily caffenation here.
