I just added three new originals in my etsy shop. They each come beautifully framed and ready to hang!

meet my friend…
Or in this case, a canvas my dad no longer wanted that still has the beginnings of one of his paintings. I almost want to just hang it up as is. It is a huge (this is just a corner of it) canvas, 48″x78″ and I am so scared to start and at the same time can’t wait. I’m hoping to leave some of the markings my dad made peaking through in spots, I’ll let you know….
a couple of new paintings…
I finally got these two pieces scanned to show you. They are on the small side, each measuring 8″x8″ will be available tomorrow in my etsy shop (both originals and prints).
wise words
“The advice I like to give young artists, or really anybody who’ll listen to me, is not to wait around for inspiration. Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up & get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part & a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself. Things occur to you.”
I came across this Chuck Close quote on pinterest and thought it was a great inspiration for the new year. I can get distracted with so many ideas of what I want to make, that I don’t stop and actually ‘make.’ This is good kick in the pants reminder to just stop and do. Sounds simple, but one of my new year’s resolutions is to hold myself to painting every single day.
P.S. a veritable treasure of inspiration at Wisdom

Just a little heads up that I added some little original paintings to my etsy shop, along with two new limited edition prints!

this quote from Georgia O’Keeffe this sunny Monday morning…

Before I signed off for the weekend I wanted to share an interview I did with Danielle Krysa (aka The Jealous Curator) for Move Lifestyle about balancing motherhood and art. It is right here, if you’d like to take a look. Have a great weekend!

Working On. Listening To.
Working on a nearly there painting, I love the dark inky quality of dusk.
Listening to The Head and the Heart
My Weekend Inspiration
Over the weekend I watched this amazing documentary about one of my favorite artists, Gerhard Richter. I loved it, I could watch him paint for hours and hours. So interesting to watch someone else work, so many of the things he said really resonated with me. I particularly related to his feeling on being watched while painting. He said it was worse than being in the hospital!
Working on. Listening to.
I thought I’d start sharing on a regular basis what I am working on and what I am listening to while doing so. I recently realized it’s when I’m listening to new music that I tend to be the most charged to make new work. Makes sense I suppose.
So this week, I’ve been working on this very large painting (which incidentally started out as a floodline piece)
while listening to Daughter
Boys Will Be Boys
I have a show opening today in Beacon, NY at Blackbird Attic. If you are in the area, stop by! Prints of these new paintings will be making their way to my etsy shop soon.
some new work off to a show
I just sent this group of little paintings and several framed prints off for an upcoming show. This weekend was crazy busy, with several fun projects that had deadlines coming up, but I’m almost done! Hope your week is off to a good start.
