I am sitting here waiting for some paintings to dry, the kids are at a playdate and I am doing a bit of virtual window shopping. Ah how I wish this lovely shop was just down the way…

…happy weekend!
for our trips this summer I have begun hoarding things to keep the kids occupied. One trip is a 3 hour drive each way, one a 6 hour plane ride. So far I have books, a couple new dvds and this…
It is so great, not your average coloring book to be sure!
These are my new favorite way to have the kids send out thank yous. For my daughter’s bday we actually went to the photobooth to do this. For this guy, well, the wall in the dining room seemed a tad easier. Either way they are really fun, and are always a big hit with the receivers. (by the way they’re in the mail, so if you’re expecting one, this is just a preview!)
These make me want to have a tea party! They are so sweet (forgive me I couldn’t resist). If you have a little girl, they’d be just adorable on cupcakes or for a little tea birthday party.

So I thought I’d continue with a few peeks around our house and show some of my favorite things. What struck me was that almost without exception they are all things that were either handed down or cost nothing…
the dress my daughter wore on her first birthday (I so need to frame this!)…
a silver bowl given to my grandparents by the german american society…
the bed I used as a child (now my daughter’s)…
ok, I’m a huge dork, but what can I say this drawing and autograph have special meaning…
family pictures…
a sign we found in our attic that is now on our mantel…
a purse that was my grandmothers (i never actually use it, but i like how it looks hanging on our closet door)…
and last but not least my son’s ‘lumpy”…
Today I thought I’d show a few pictures around our house of a work in progress and one done. I just started on this large canvas and I’ve been working on it in the dining room. Where I work is always changing, usually to do with if the kids are home, or just my mood. I love working on large paintings, something I hadn’t done until a little over a year ago.
This painting is at the top of our stairs. It is of our kiddos and was one of the first larger paintings I did.
I decided to put ALOT of originals in the shop today. I’m hoping to clear a little space for some new things I have coming up. Please go take a peek!
We’re still recovering from a very full weekend that included one birthday celebration. So, I’m moving slower than normal. Here are a few details from the big day…
little rocket ship cakes for each guest…
who could say no to that face…
destroying mars….
I recently finished up the third in a series of custom portraits that show this adorable little girl from infant to toddler and on. I love all the details her mother wanted included that have special meaning to the family, from the big red mushroom in the first to the three balls she carries in her basket.
Oh, and some new prints just went up in the shop!
I can’t believe it has been five years since this guy came into my life! He is amazing. In his first year he faced several surgeries (one major) and through it all has kept a smile on his face. He makes me laugh more than any other person I have ever met.
I just picked up my first issue of the french magazine Milk at the bookstore yesterday. It’s sad I suppose that a magazine can make my day, but I am so excited they finally carry it in the stores here! It did not let me down. It is just absolutely GORGEOUS! I may even brush up on my french so I can read it. Here are a few of my favorite pictures…
I wouldn’t say I have too many ‘perks’ in my line of work. At the mail store yesterday, though, I. sure thought so. We’re regulars there and the owner saw how fascinated I. was with the copiers, so showed him how they worked by letting him make a copy of his hand. Well, that made his day.
And I got his bday present today, a whole herd, gaggle, you pick of these gorgeous schleich animals. Shhh…..
An ever so huge thank you to Irene over at Bloesem Kids for featuring my work today!
Head over to the lovely babyccino site to win one of my prints! Babyccino was started by four friends living in four different cities in Europe. I love that their blog was started as a way to maintain their friendship, and love getting little peeks into the city each calls home . We harbor the hope of one day living in Europe for a few month stint or so. I would love the kids to have a greater perspective on the world, and I would love to visit family in Germany. Someday, someday….
I have a new frame and canvas ready and waiting…love that feeling. I was hoping to get a few new things up in the shop today, but I have a sick kiddo home, so we’ll see….
My youngest brought home this drawing from school today. I commented on what a nice heart he had drawn and was quickly corrected. “No, it’s the little bunny from Totoro.” Hmmm, a good likeness….
(by the way, a beautiful movie!)
Happy birthday big brother!
I just listed some new items in my shop. I am just loving this frame, especially with the hare print. Blue and red, one of my all time favorite color combos.
